On December 21st, 2011, FHWA issued the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Fore River Bridge Replacement Project.  To see the finding and its supporting documentation, please click here.

February 9, 2012
The design team held the 25% design public hearing for the project at the Abigail Adams Middle School in Weymouth.  Outreach for the meeting was conducted through the project website, mailing list, and local newspapers including the Boston Globe, Quincy Patriot Ledger, Quincys Sun, and Weymouth News.

January 19, 2011
At the request of Weymouth Mayor Susan M. Kay, members of the project team met with Mayor Kay and senior members of her staff to discuss the project and its potential impacts on Weymouth in general and North Weymouth in particular.  North Weymouth Councilor Victor Pap and representatives of the Fore River Bridge Neighborhood Association also attended this meeting.  Minutes appear with the kind permission of Mayor Kay.
January 13, 2011
The design team held a public information meeting at the Fore River Clubhouse in Quincy intended to reach a combined audience of those who live in the communities on either side of the bridge - particularly North Weymouth, Weymouth in general, and Quincy Ward 2 - as well as surrounding communities such as Braintree and Hingham.  Outreach for this meeting was conducted through the project website and through advertisements in the Hingham Journal, Quincy Patriot-Ledger, Quincy Sun, and Weymouth News.

September 30, 2010
At the request of Weymouth Mayor Susan M. Kay, members of the project team met with Mayor Kay, senior members of her staff, and representatives of the United States Coast Guard to discuss the project and its potential impacts on Weymouth in general and North Weymouth in particular.  A representative of the Fore River Bridge Neighborhood Association also attended this meeting.  Minutes appear with the kind permission of Mayor Kay.

The design team held a public information meeting at the Fore River Club House in Quincy at the request of state Representative Ronald Mariano.  This meeting was intended to reach a combined audience consisting of those who live in the communities on either side of the bridge, particularly North Weymouth and Quincy Ward 2. Outreach for this meeting was coordinated through the Representative's office and advertisements were run in local newspapers including the Boston Herald and Quincy Patriot-Ledger.    

March 26, 2010
The design team held a targeted briefing session for maritime stakeholders as defined by the United States Coast Guard. Representatives of Citgo, various Boston Harbor Pilot associations and the harbor masters for Quincy and Weymouth also attended this meeting.

February 24, 2010
The design team held a public information meeting at the Hingham Town Hall at the request of state Senator Robert Hedlund.  This meeting was intended to reach a combined audience consisting of those who live in the communities on either side of the bridge and those who live in the broader area and rely on the bridge as part of their daily commute.  Outreach for this meeting was coordinated through the Senator's office and advertisements were run in local newspapers including the Quincy Patriot-Ledger.    

2009

October 8, 2009
The design team held a targeted briefing session for residents of Quincy Ward 2 at the request of Ward 2 City Councilor, Daniel Raymondi. Outreach for this meeting was coordinated through the local city councilor’s office. Advertisements were also run in the Quincy Patriot-Ledger and Quincy Sun, a smaller, local newspaper serving Ward 2.

September 18, 2009
The design team held a targeted briefing session for members of the North Weymouth Civic Association. Outreach for this meeting was coordinated through the North Weymouth Civic Association and the North Weymouth Town Councilor, Victor Pap's office.

August 18, 2009
The design team held a targeted briefing session for maritime stakeholders as defined by the United States Coast Guard. Representatives of Citgo, various Boston Harbor Pilot associations and the harbor masters for Quincy and Weymouth also attended this meeting.

July 23, 2009
The design team held a targeted briefing for the members of the Quincy 2000 business development group. Invitations to the meeting were coordinated through the Quincy 2000 business development group’s executive staff and reached businesses in Quincy, Weymouth and Braintree. Representatives of the United States Coast Guard were also present at this meeting.

June 23, 2009
The design team held a public briefing for a general public audience at the Crane Public Library in Quincy. Advertisements were placed in the Quincy Patriot-Ledger and Boston Herald. Invitation letters were also sent to the public officials invited to the April briefing.

April 27, 2009
The design team held an initial briefing for local and state officials of Quincy, Weymouth and Braintree. Representatives of the mayors of all three municipalities were present as were representatives from the offices of Senators Morrissey and Hudlund and Representative Mariano. The Town Councilor for North Weymouth, Victor Pap, also attended this meeting.
