Over
the course of the project, MassDOT has worked with the community and
local officials to develop an appearance for the new Fore River Bridge
that is aesthetically appealing and responsive to the span's
surroundings. Clicking on the views below will enlarge
them.
The following four renderings present the
latest changes to the structure's appearance as developed by the
design/build team. The changes shown in these renderings
(January, 2013) do not change the bridge's appearance in terms of
overall size or alignment, but improve the structure in terms of
constructability. Such changes are normal and an expected part of the
design/build process. All such changes proposed by the
design/build team are reviewed and subject to approval by MassDOT.
The following thirteen renderings were
presented to the community at project's 25% design public hearing on
February 9th, 2012. They remain generally correct in terms of
perspective, placement of the bridge within the corridor, and how it
would appear from various points in the abutting communities of Quincy
and Weymouth.
